Fighting Dental Anxiety With Human Connection
Dr. Brandon Keyser has been practicing dentistry in Santa Fe for over a decade, and if you spend five minutes talking with him, you'll understand exactly why he chose this work. It wasn't just the science or the precision involved in working with his hands, though he loves both of those things. It was the people. "I'm a very social individual," Dr. Keyser says. "Anytime I can interact with people, it energizes me." That might sound simple, but it says a lot about the kind of experience you can expect when you walk through the doors at Comfort Dental Santa Fe.Why Does It Matter That Your Dentist Actually Likes People?
It might seem like a strange thing to highlight about a healthcare provider, but consider how many dental experiences feel purely transactional. You come in, you get treated, you leave. There's not much room for connection, and there's often not much effort to create any. Dr. Keyser approaches it differently. He describes himself as someone who genuinely enjoys conversation, who gets energy from the people around him, and who finds the human side of dentistry just as meaningful as the clinical side. That orientation shapes everything about the culture at Comfort Dental Santa Fe, from the way the front desk welcomes you to the way Dr. Keyser himself shows up in the treatment room. What Does That Look Like in Practice?
One thing Dr. Keyser started early in his career was making care calls, personally calling patients within 24 hours of a procedure to check in on how they were doing. It started as a practice encouraged by the Comfort Dental franchise, but he quickly made it his own. "When I started doing that, it changed my whole outlook," he says. "Patients usually would give me more feedback 24 hours after than they did immediately. When they're not numb and their problem's fixed, they have a lasting gratitude." That kind of follow-through is rare. Most dental offices don't have anyone calling to see how you're feeling the next day. At Comfort Dental Santa Fe, it's part of the standard of care.Who Does Comfort Dental Santa Fe Serve?
The practice serves the entire Santa Fe community, but also draws patients from surrounding areas including Taos, Espanola, Las Vegas, and dozens of smaller communities across Northern New Mexico. Dr. Keyser points out that New Mexico is an underserved state when it comes to dental care, and Comfort Dental Santa Fe accepts most insurance plans, including Medicaid, so that more people can actually access the help they need. The office is open from 7:30 in the morning to 7:30 at night, and sees patients on Saturdays as well. That kind of availability is a direct extension of the same philosophy: if you need care, they want to make it as easy as possible for you to get it.Is Comfort Dental Santa Fe a Good Fit for My Family?
If you're looking for a dentist in Santa Fe who will treat you like a person rather than a patient number, the answer is likely yes. The office handles everything from routine cleanings and fillings to implants, dentures, and root canals. Dr. Keyser and his partners have built a team focused on growth and excellence, and that commitment shows up in the quality of care their patients receive. Dr. Keyser puts it plainly: dentistry fits his personality because he likes to talk to people, he likes helping people, and he likes working with his hands. All three come together every day at Comfort Dental Santa Fe.
